Katsina Govt Warns Private Hospitals: Comply or Lose License

The Katsina State Government has mandated all private hospitals and healthcare centers operating across the state to comply with all regulatory standards set by law. This directive applies to private hospitals, maternity centers, eye care clinics, and diagnostic centers. According to the state's Ministry of Health, these institutions must renew their registrations, employ qualified staff, and maintain modern, quality medical equipment.
The state's Commissioner for Health, Musa Adamu, emphasized that adhering to these regulations is crucial for ensuring quality healthcare delivery to the public. He warned that any facility found in violation of the law would face immediate closure. Commissioner Adamu reiterated that Edict No. 5 of 1990, which outlines the operational guidelines for private healthcare facilities in Katsina, remains in full force, and the government will not tolerate non-compliance.
Furthermore, he disclosed that a committee formed by the ministry will begin a comprehensive inspection of all private healthcare facilities in the state within the next three weeks. Any institution found operating without meeting the required standards will be shut down promptly.
On Monday, October 21st, the Katsina government ordered the closure of all private health training institutions and established an investigative committee to assess compliance with health authority standards.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Healthcare Facilities, Umar Mammada Adamu, stated that these actions were taken to safeguard public health, as some facilities have been operating without adhering to proper standards. The government, he said, is committed to protecting the health and lives of the people of Katsina State.
Private healthcare providers have been urged to comply with the outlined regulations to avoid the closure of their facilities and the revocation of their operating licenses.
